Charlton Athletic have confirmed the news that defender Hannah Godfrey and midfielder Lois Roche are leaving the club.
The Addicks announced the duo’s departures via posts on their official club website this morning.
Both players are out of contract at the end of this month and they will be moving on to take up new challenges.
Defender Godfrey joined Charlton Athletic in summer 2021 in a move which saw her link-up with former mentor Karen Hills once again. The Scot has made 19 appearances for The Addicks in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Godfrey has struggled for minutes with the South East Londoners this season.
Midfielder Roche also joined Charlton Athletic in summer 2021. She has made 33 appearances for the club in league competition while she has scored one goal which came in a 3-0 win over Watford back in 2022. Like Godfrey, Roche has had to be patient for game time in the first half of the season.
Both players leave Charlton Athletic with the best wishes of the club. The pair have played their part in the growth of Charlton Athletic Women as a full-time professional team. Head coach Hills could enter the transfer market next month to bolster her squad given Godfrey and Roche’s departures.
