Lewes have completed the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic defender Hannah Godfrey on a free transfer.
The Rooks announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website yesterday.
Godfrey joins Lewes after recently leaving former club Charlton Athletic. The Scotland international centre-back made 19 appearances for The Addicks in the Barclays Women’s Championship in a two-and-a-half-year spell in South East London. The player has also previously played top flight football with former club Spurs.
The 26-year-old’s experience should help bolster a Lewes defensive unit that has been breached on 18 occasions so far this season. She will have an important role to play in helping The Rooks to battle bravely against the threat of relegation in the coming months.
After adding Godfrey to his squad, Lewes boss Scott Booth said “Hannah has been an excellent one for us to bring in because she’s got such good experience of Championship football as well as international football.
“She’s come in, shown us what she can do and just has a great mindset, great attitude. She’s both determined as a defender, but also equally good on the ball with her range of passing.”
Godfrey becomes Lewes boss Booth’s third signing of the January transfer window.
