Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that his side will have to be at their very best against Arsenal this weekend.
The Blue Girls have enjoyed a good season so far but they have struggled in their games against the top four.
When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Arsenal, Everton boss Sørensen said that his side will have to be at their absolute best to get a result.
“It’s tough, they’ve got an unbelievable squad, really good players and experience throughout the team,” Sørensen said. “It’s going to be a tough task.
“Every time we play against the top four, we try to do the same thing and that sometimes makes it more difficult for us. I believe in the way that we play against those teams. You could sit back, park the bus and one in 30 games, you might get a win but we will try to go out there, push them in every way that we can and play football like we do.
“We know that we will have to be at our very best. It’s a tough ask but we are up for the fight and will do everything that we can to get a result.”
Everton begin the second half of the season in seventh position in the Barclays Women’s Super League table. Sørensen believes that his side are good enough to finish in the top half of the table, as long as injuries are kept to a minimum.
He said “If we are injury-free, yes, for sure [we can finish in the top six]. If we continue the current pattern, maybe not.
“We won’t be in a relegation battle or anything, we are in a good place, we’ve had some good games and started the year off well.
“It’s a tough task for the girls this weekend but there will also be games that are 50-50 on the day. We just need to show up and show our quality like we did last weekend against Villa.”
Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal kicks-off at 2pm on Saturday afternoon. The game is subject to morning pitch inspections.
