Arsenal boss Eidevall impressed by Everton’s belief in long-term vision

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he has been impressed by Everton’s loyalty towards their long-term vision this season.

The Gunners are scheduled to face The Blue Girls at Meadow Park this afternoon. The game is subject to the pitch passing a 10.30am inspection.

Arsenal’s latest opponents have had a real mixed bag of results so far this season but Eidevall recognises Everton’s commitment towards their long-term goals.

“They’ve been consistent in the way that they’ve been playing and they haven’t let short-term results affect their belief too much in what they’re trying to achieve as a group over the long-term,” Eidevall said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “Both the team and Brian Sørensen have been very calm and logical in the way that they’ve been handling that.

“They’ve picked up some good results lately and in reality, they should have picked up points from some of the games earlier in the season as well.

“It has been good seeing their belief in the way that they play and being long-term with their vision. That’s what has paid off for them.”

Should the game go ahead, Saturday afternoon broadcasting rules will prevent the contest from being streamed live, much to the disappointment of both sets of supporters. Eidevall hopes that a solution can be put in place in the future.

He said “We are disappointed for people that want to watch our game live and can’t do it. When people were aware of the situation, it would have been difficult to move the game for match-going supporters as well because people also make commitments and plan their schedule around it.

“We are proud of the fans that come to Borehamwood and the commitment that they show for their team but in the future, all stakeholders need to look at that so that we can avoid this situation again.”

Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Everton is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm this afternoon. The game has been declared a sell-out.
