Brighton & Hove Albion forward Chelsea Ferguson has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
The Rooks announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this evening.
Ferguson is a product of the Brighton & Hove Albion academy system and she has gone on to break into the fringes of the senior side. The 19-year-old made her first team debut for The Seagulls as a substitute in the 4-0 defeat at Arsenal on the opening day of last season. Ferguson added one further senior outing to her name for Brighton & Hove Albion last term.
Brighton & Hove Albion opted to send Ferguson out on loan to Barclays Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers in the first half of this season to allow the youngster to get some game time. The forward made six league appearances for Rovers before being recalled by her parent club ahead of schedule.
With Ferguson still needing minutes, the decision has been made to allow her to join Lewes on loan. Ferguson will be hoping to help fire The Rooks to safety in the Barclays Women’s Championship in the coming weeks and months.
Ferguson’s Lewes arrival comes after fellow forward Kate Mooney left The Dripping Pan yesterday.
