Manchester City sign Aston Villa midfielder Blindkilde Brown

Manchester City have completed the signing of midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown from Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this evening.

Blindkilde Brown has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Manchester City. It is understood that the club have paid a sizeable fee to unlock a buyout clause in the midfielder’s contract at Aston Villa and secure her services.

After spending her youth with Birmingham City, Blindkilde Brown crossed the Second City to join Aston Villa in 2020. The midfielder has established herself in the Aston Villa first team, making 41 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

There is much more to come from the England Under-23 star and she will now be hoping to impress head coach Gareth Taylor at new club Manchester City.

After signing for Manchester City, Blindkilde Brown said “I’m really excited to be here. It’s a big step in my career but I’m really excited to see what comes.

“It’s a new challenge for me. Obviously, I’ve been at Villa a lot of my career but it’s something new and I’ll be training with some of the best players in the world.

“I think the style of play here is really suited to me. Hopefully, it just develops me even more in my career.”

Blindkilde Brown is Manchester City’s third signing of the January transfer window.
