Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall is looking for a strong reaction from his side when they face London City Lionesses in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup this evening.
The Gunners suffered a third Barclays Women’s Super League defeat of the season on Sunday as they went down 2-1 at West Ham United.
When speaking to the media ahead of this evening’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup tie at Princes Park, Eidevall highlighted the importance of taking the learnings forward from Sunday’s defeat.
“Of course, we’re very frustrated with the result,” Eidevall said. “We need to take ownership of all parts of that performance that can help us get better performances.
“We can definitely improve, and we need to do that. We can learn from every game, win or lose, and there were some crucial learnings from the West Ham game that we need to put into action.”
Arsenal play back-to-back domestic cup games this week with an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Manchester City also on the horizon. Eidevall discussed the pressure of those games, insisting that Arsenal will aim to rise to every challenge.
He said “I prepare the team as well as possible for the next game and we do our very best to win that football game. That’s what you can control and where we need to put our focus.
“The games all have the same importance in all three competitions, we need to see things in both short and long term. If you’re not giving 100 percent, you’re not going to develop. For us, every time we go out and play a game, it’s the most important game that we have ever played.”
Arsenal’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture at London City Lionesses kicks-off at 7pm this evening.
