Chelsea forward Mia Fishel has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.
It has been reported that Fishel sustained her injury whilst on international duty with the United States. The forward is now expected to miss the remainder of the current season and the start of the 2024/2025 campaign.
Fishel joined Chelsea last summer from Mexican club Tigres UANL Femenil. The striker has netted one goal in 10 Barclays Women’s Super League outings for The Blues. Chelsea were hoping that Fishel would increase her goal contribution in the second half of the season but injury has now brought her first year in South West London to an early end.
Fishel is the third Chelsea player to sustain an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in a matter of weeks. Star forward Sam Kerr suffered the same kind of injury in the early weeks of 2024 while Dutch defender Aniek Nouwen ruptured her ACL back in early December. Fishel’s lengthy absence has now added a new hole to the Chelsea attack.
Fishel is set to return to Chelsea where she will receive the full support of the club’s medical staff.
