Birmingham City defender Finn sustains ACL injury

Birmingham City defender Jamie Finn has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this morning.

It has been reported that Finn sustained the injury whilst away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland. The player will now return to Birmingham City for a medical assessment and to determine the first steps in her recovery. Finn will be out of action for the remainder of the current season while she is also likely to be sidelined for the start of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Finn is in her third season with Birmingham City after joining the club from SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Women’s Premier Division side Shelbourne in summer 2021. The player has made 56 appearances for the Blues in league competition in which she has scored one goal. Finn was most recently in action for Birmingham City on Sunday when the Blues took on Southampton in their latest Barclays Women’s Championship fixture at St Andrew’s.

Finn is under contract with Birmingham City until summer 2025 therefore she will have the stability of knowing that she will be with the club throughout her rehabilitation and beyond. The defender committed her long-term future to the Midlands club last summer.
