Leicester City dismiss manager Kirk following internal process

Leicester City have taken the decision to dismiss manager Willie Kirk following an internal process which reviewed his conduct whilst in role.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this evening.

Kirk had been assisting the club with an internal process since 8 March and assistant Jennifer Foster has been taking interim charge of first team affairs. The club have now concluded their investigations and the decision has been made to dismiss Kirk from his role. Foster will continue to oversee day-to-day footballing matters while the club search for a new manager. She will be supported by Stephen Kirby.

A statement issued by Leicester City following the conclusion of their internal process read “Following an extensive internal disciplinary process and respecting the Club’s obligations to individual privacy, Willie was determined to have breached the team’s code of conduct to a degree that makes his position untenable.

Kirk was appointed Leicester City manager in November 2022. He guided the club to Barclays Women’s Super League safety last season against all odds while the team have pushed on significantly this term. Leicester City could yet qualify for a first Adobe Women’s FA Cup final while the club are expected to record their highest league finish to date.
