Sky Sports and BBC Sport extend WSL broadcast deal

Sky Sports and BBC Sport have extended their respective deals for the Barclays Women’s Super League broadcast rights into the 2024/2025 season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this morning.

Both broadcasters have agreed to extend their current arrangements into a fourth season. It has been reported that Sky will broadcast up to 44 live matches across their channels while BBC Sport will screen a maximum of 22 live games via their platforms.

Following this morning’s announcement, Nikki Doucet, CEO for the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship said “We are very pleased that Sky Sports and BBC Sport are continuing their broadcast rights partnership with us for a further season.

“The past three years have been incredibly exciting for the women’s game – each broadcaster’s coverage of the Barclays Women’s Super League has helped to take the game to another level and open it up to new audiences, and we’re looking forward to seeing that continue and momentum build as we move into a standalone entity.”

The popularity of both the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship continues to increase. A number of attendance records have been smashed in both leagues this season while TV and streaming audiences have also been on the rise.
