Manchester City confirm that forward Shaw will miss remaining games

Manchester City have confirmed that forward Khadija Shaw will miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media update from The Cityzens this afternoon.

Shaw netted twice in the first half of last weekend’s 5-0 victory over West Ham United at The Joie Stadium, however, she went down with an injury just before the break. The forward was unable to continue and was replaced at half-time.

The Manchester City medical staff have now fully-assessed Shaw’s injury and the club have confirmed that she will not return to fitness prior to the end of the season.

This afternoon’s news has dealt a real blow to Manchester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League title hopes. The Cityzens are likely to have to win all of their remaining games to have a chance of being champions. Shaw will miss away games at Bristol City and Aston Villa, along with the crucial home fixture against Arsenal. Chloe Kelly is likely to return to head coach Gareth Taylor’s starting XI in place of Shaw.

Shaw ends the season having scored 21 goals in 18 Barclays Women’s Super League matches for Manchester City. She has scored one more league goal this season than she did in 2022/2023.
