Arsenal have announced the news that goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese will leave the club this summer at the end of her current contract.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this afternoon.
Marckese joined Arsenal from Danish club HB Køge in summer 2022. She provided competition for first-choice goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger in her first season in North London before joining Bristol City on loan at the start of the current campaign.
The 26-year-old American keeper sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury whilst in action for loan club Bristol City back in November and she has spent the last six months in rehabilitation. Marckese is expected to return to fitness next season, allowing her to move to a new club.
Marckese has made two appearances for Arsenal in her time with the club, both of which came during the 2022/2023 season.
Two goalkeepers will leave Arsenal this summer. Marckese’s teammate Sabrina D’Angelo is also moving on when her contract comes to an end. Arsenal’s first-choice keeper Zinsberger recently signed a contract extension therefore she is contracted to the club for next season.
Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall will add at least one more goalkeeper to his squad this summer with Aston Villa’s Daphne van Domselaar being a potential target.
