Everton defender Sara Holmgaard has signed a contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this afternoon.
Holmgaard joined Everton in the summer 2022 transfer window alongside twin sister Karen. The player initially went out on loan to Danish club Fortuna Hjørring to further her development before making her mark back on Merseyside in the last 18 months. Holmgaard has made 18 appearances for Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League to date.
The 25-year-old Danish international full-back went from strength-to-strength with Everton last season after beating off some niggling injuries and she will be hoping to continue to impress after extending her contract with the club.
After signing on again at Walton Hall Park, Holmgaard said “I’ve been really happy over these past two years as an Everton player, so it was an easy decision to stay. I’m really enjoying my football. I have new-found motivation after a really tough year with injuries.
“We have brought in some really good players and have a strong squad. We have a really good group here and I’m looking forward to seeing what the new season brings.”
Holmgaard becomes the fifth player to sign a new contract with Everton this summer.
