Everton midfielder Karen Holmgaard has signed a contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this afternoon.
Holmgaard joined Everton in the summer 2022 transfer window alongside twin sister Sara. The midfielder has gone on to make 32 appearances for the Merseyside club in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored three goals.
The 25-year-old Danish international has been an important member of Brian Sørensen’s side and she will be hoping to play an even bigger role for the team this season.
After signing on again at Walton Hall Park, Holmgaard said “It was an easy decision to extend my time here. I love being an Everton player. The Club, teammates, staff, city, fans – it’s all fantastic.
“I can’t wait to be back playing. Last season was really tough with injury, and I wasn’t able to play as much. I have a lot of things to improve on. For me, it’s important to be at a good club where I feel at home and that’s the feeling I get here.
“I need to show who I am, show the real Karen and I cannot wait to do it.”
Holmgaard becomes the sixth player to sign a new contract with Everton this summer.
