Manchester City appoint Sjögran as new Women’s Director of Football

Manchester City have appointed Therese Sjögran as their new Women’s Director of Football.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Cityzens this morning.

Sjögran comes in as a permanent replacement for former Women’s Director of Football Nils Nielsen who left Manchester City earlier this year after spending 13 months in the role.

Sjögran has lots of experience to offer Manchester City. A 14-year senior playing career saw her play for the likes of Kristianstads DFF, Malmö and Sky Blue FC while she was capped by Sweden on more than 200 occasions. Since hanging up her boots, Sjögran has developed her off-field experience in a Director of Football role at FC Rosengård, a club which was formerly known as Malmö.

After appointing Sjögran as Manchester City’s new Director of Women’s Football, Managing Director, Charlotte O’Neill said “We’re delighted to have Therese join as our new Women’s Director of Football.

“She is an undisputed icon of the game and has made a real impact on and off the pitch in both a playing and directorial capacity over the past two decades.

“We have a fantastic team working behind the scenes to help the Club compete for the top honours, and Therese is an excellent addition to that cohort.”

Sjögran will be responsible for women’s and girls’ recruitment during her time at Manchester City whilst also working on coach and player development.
