Sheffield United have announced the signings of Ellie Jones and Issy Hobson on loan deals from Barclays Women’s Super League club Everton until the end of the season.
WSL Full-Time were informed of Sheffield United’s double swoop via an official press release from the club this morning.
Midfielder Jones is a product of Everton’s academy system. The 17-year-old has been in and around The Blue Girls’ senior squad for the last two seasons. The player made her senior debut for Everton in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Subway Women’s League Cup group stage before the Christmas break. Jones is yet to feature for Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Defender Hobson has also come through Everton’s youth ranks. Like Jones, she has also been on the fringes of the first team in the last couple of seasons. The youngster has made 13 appearances for Everton in all competitions to date. She scored her first senior goal in her side’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Walton Hall Park towards the end of last season.
Both players will now have the opportunity to get regular minutes in the Barclays Women’s Championship with Sheffield United before returning to Everton in the summer.
