Bristol City appoint Manchester United assistant Healy as new boss

Manchester United assistant boss Charlotte Healy has been appointed as the new head coach of Bristol City.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Healy joins Bristol City off the back of a six-year spell with Manchester United in which she worked in both the academy and first team set-ups. She was part of the senior management team that guided The Red Devils to within three points of a first Barclays Women’s Super League title in 2022/2023 before helping the club to a maiden Adobe Women’s FA Cup success the following year. Healy has been an excellent support to head coach Marc Skinner in recent years.

Healy has been keen to move into a head coach role herself and she will now get that opportunity with Barclays WSL2 club Bristol City.

After being appointed Bristol City head coach, Healy said “I’m really excited to be here at such a big club with a rich history in the women’s game. I’m delighted and can’t wait to get going.

“I’m high challenge, I want us to win, I want us to be successful but if you came into my environment, I hope you’d see it is really high support as well.

“I can’t wait to play in front of our fans, and they’ll be a huge part of what we do.”

Healy replaces former Bristol City boss Steve Kirby who was sacked off the back of an underwhelming 2024/2025 campaign.
