Former Southampton midfielder Pike joins Newcastle United

Newcastle United have announced the signing of former Southampton midfielder Molly Pike on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies this afternoon.

The 24-year-old joins Newcastle United after leaving former club Southampton upon the expiry of her contract last month. She joins former Saints teammate Jemma Purfield on Tyneside.

Pike spent two seasons with Southampton after joining the club from Leicester City in summer 2023. She made 51 appearances for The Saints in all competitions in which she scored 13 goals. The midfielder has also turned out for Everton and Bristol City in her senior playing career to date.

On the international stage, Pike previously featured for England at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level.

After sealing her move to Newcastle United, Pike said “I’m super-excited. I’ve heard so much about the club and the city, and I just can’t wait to get going.

“It was definitely the ambition of the club and the direction in which it’s heading, because I want to be a part of that, I want to be able to build a legacy here.”

Pike is Newcastle United’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
