West Ham United midfielder Ziu joins Bristol City on loan

West Ham United midfielder Jess Ziu has joined Barclays WSL2 club Bristol City on a season-long loan deal.

The Hammers confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 23-year-old joined West Ham United from SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Shelbourne in summer 2022. The player has gone on to make 23 appearances for the East Londoners in all competitions. Ziu’s progress at West Ham United has been hindered by two Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries.

The player is now back to full fitness and she will look to get back into a regular flow of games at Barclays WSL2 club Bristol City. Ziu joins a club that have recruited heavily this summer in a bid to win promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2025/2026.

Ziu initially arrived in England full of promise. The Republic of Ireland international broke into the senior squad at former side Shelbourne at the age of just 16 while she won the SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division title with the club. The midfielder netted an impressive 19 goals in 56 league outings for Shels.

Bristol City have now signed two West Ham United players on loan. Defender Camila Sáez has also moved to Ashton Gate on a temporary basis.
