Birmingham City defender Lily Simkin has signed her first professional terms with the club according to reports on the Blues’ official website.
The 17-year-old Regional Talent Club (RTC) graduate has penned a two-year deal with the Blues which will begin on her 18th birthday in September.
Simkin is the second player to commit her immediate future to the Blues after Republic of Ireland defender Harriet Scott signed fresh terms with the club yesterday, keeping her at St Andrew’s until summer 2023.
After agreeing her first professional deal, Simkin said “I am really excited, this Club is basically my home now. I have been here since I was really young and I can’t wait to get started. It’s a proud moment for me and my family.
“My main aim is just to be the inspiration for all the other girls at the RTC and show that you can make it all the way through at this Club.
“I am excited for the fans to come back, it has been a long time without them. We see their support on social media and we miss them.”
Simkin has been with Birmingham City since the age of 10 and she made her senior debut for the club in a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in November 2019.
Birmingham City are still waiting to learn whether eight other players will sign contract extensions this summer.
