Australian international defender Catley signs new Arsenal deal

Arsenal defender Steph Catley has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.

The 28-year-old joined the North Londoners in summer 2020 and she has established herself in the English game with her consistency being one of the most pleasing factors.

Catley has made 23 appearances for Arsenal in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while she has also featured heavily for The Gunners both in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and in the domestic cups. The defender has impressed Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall since his arrival at the club last summer and The Gunners’ boss has moved quickly to agree new terms with the player.

After signing her new deal, Catley said “It feels absolutely incredible. I’ve been here for two years now and I’ve made some incredible friendships and I feel right at home here. I’ve been through some tough times and some great times and I feel that I’m growing so much as a person and as a player. I’m just happy to call Arsenal home for another few years.”

In-line with Arsenal’s club policy, the length of Catley’s new deal has been left undisclosed. The defender will hope to celebrate her new contract by ending the season with a victory when Arsenal travel to West Ham United on Sunday.
