Welcome to the latest weekly update from the Bristol City Women Supporters’ Club.
As most of you will agree, it has been a week like no other following the outbreak of the Coronavirus and it seems rather trivial talking about football in these troubled times.
Even though there have been no matches to look forward to, we have seen how wonderfully tight-knit our women’s football family is with many players taking to social media to offer their services in delivering food and supplies to the vulnerable including Bristol City Women players of past and present on either side of the pond in Abi Harrison and Jess Fishlock.
It does appear that we are in for a substantial lay-off from all football and it remains to be seen what will happen when it does return. At Bristol City, the players have been sent away to train on their own with individual training plans so we will be ready to tackle the relegation fight if and when the season does recommence.
I would like to congratulate those Vixens players who represented their countries during the recent international break. Chloe Logarzo’s Australia sealed their Olympic berth with a two-legged victory over Vietnam with Chloe scoring in the first leg. Poppy Pattinson and Ebony Salmon saw good game time for the England Under-21s and England Under-19s respectively while Katie Robinson had a very good training camp with the England Under-17 squad.
I hope you all stay safe and I look forward to updating you again soon when we will hopefully have some better news.
