Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the signing of Danish defender Matilde Skovsen.
The 20-year-old defender joins the Sussex club on a one-year contract after leaving Danish side VSK Aarhus.
Skovsen has previously played for Paris St-Germain and has represented her country at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-23 levels. The right-back helped Denmark reach the semi-finals of the UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship in 2018 where they lost to eventual winners Spain.
Skovsen becomes the second defender signed by Albion this week after they revealed the addition of Dutch defender Danique Kerkdijk on Monday.
In other transfer news, following the announced departures of Chloe Peplow and Marie Hourihan at the beginning of the week, the pair have since signed for FA Women’s Super League debutants Tottenham Hotspur and Portuguese club SC Braga respectively.
The players have arrived back for pre-season this week as they prepare for a second season in the top tier. Brighton will be looking to improve on a ninth-place finish from last season. They start this year’s campaign against the same opposition as last season with a trip to the Stoke Gifford Stadium where they will face Bristol City. Last season, the Albion narrowly lost the fixture 1-0 to a Lucy Graham goal.
