Welcome to another weekly update from everyone here at Manchester City Women OSC.
This week has again seen a large number of our members remain in France as the Lionesses’ adventure at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 continues.
We had lots of our members in attendance at last week’s quarter-final as England dispatched an impressive Norway outfit with a 3-0 victory in Le Havre. It was an excellent display and if the girls can keep that level of performance up in the semi-final against USA this week, you never know, we could have a FIFA Women’s World Cup final to look forward to. As usual, our members who are staying out in France are the life and soul of the party and I am sure that they will be making more noise than ever before in Lyon.
One aspect which our members out in France have had to get used to is their new media duties. They have, in the last week alone, appeared on 5 Live, ITN news and on the BBC, not to mention several appearances on many different social media sites. As ever, they have took their fame in their stride.
For those of us less fortunate back at home, we had a few things on the go to keep us happy. On Sunday, Manchester City Women OSC travelled to The University of Lancashire Sports Campus to support our Manchester City Ladies veteran team in their first walking football tournament. The side featured many players from past incarnations of City Ladies and they did themselves proud by reaching the final, only to lose narrowly in a penalty shootout.
This week has also seen Manchester City launch their new Puma kit range for the 2019/2020 season with the away kit inspired by The Hacienda proving very popular.
I would like to wish fans travelling out to France for the semi-final, a safe trip and also best of luck to our amazing Lionesses.
See you again next week.
