Welcome to the latest weekly update from the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.
On the pitch, the domestic fixtures returned with a bang as we all celebrated Women’s Football Weekend.
Congratulations go to all involved with the weekend from us here at the OSC, the crowds this weekend were fantastic and especially at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where records were shattered. This can only be good for the growth of the game and the publicity which it gathered was equally invaluable.
City returned to action with a five-star demolition of West Ham United. We looked slick and potent in all departments which bodes well for a significant run of fixtures up to the Christmas break. A number of our members met up with former player Tess Middag after the game, Tess is a special player and a person who we here at the OSC still hold very close to our hearts. It was fantastic to catch up with her and we wish her well for the rest of the season.
OSC-wise we have been very busy as usual this week. We had a great branch meeting when as well as all of our usual fun and games, we were delighted to welcome both Gail Redston and Anita Clarke. Both ladies are former City players and both recently made their England debuts for the Lionesses IWFF Walking Football team against Wales. The girls told us all about their proud moments and showed off their caps and trophy too, it was great to be able to really celebrate their achievements.
We have away trips to Everton, Bristol City and Chelsea planned in the next few weeks so it is a busy period for us on the committee, especially when you add into that the preparations for organising for this year’s Xmas Bash which we are holding in conjunction with our friends from The Bluebells branch of the Manchester City OSC. Life is never dull being a blue!
Hope you all have a good week and manage to get to an FA Women’s Continental League Cup or FA Women’s Super League game.
Dave (Committee member – MCWFC OSC)
