Members of the Manchester City Women OSC at The Etihad Stadium

WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #31

Welcome to this week’s update from the OSC on all things Manchester City.

We followed up our victory at Bristol City with a really hard fought 1-0 home win over a very resolute Liverpool side. They may be bottom at the moment but if they play with the style and determination they showed at The Academy Stadium, that will change very soon.

Our attention now turns to the coming weekend when after many of our members have attended the men’s derby match at The Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, they will be up at an unearthly hour on Sunday morning to make the trek down to Kingsmeadow for what could be a pivotal clash with an in-form Chelsea side. The early start is necessary to get down for the early kick-off time of midday. This has become a big feature in our travelling this season, how do fans of other teams who travel to away games feel about more and more diverse kick-off times? Our OSC has a coach full going down and there are many more City fans going too so it should be another full house for Chelsea and as ever, we are very confident that we can get the result which we are looking for.

This week saw our OSC branch invited with others to be guests of the club in The Legends Lounge hospitality suite for our City men’s UEFA Champions League tie against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. We had a number of members who came with us, mixed with a few City legends and we enjoyed the match from the lovely comfy padded seats. We would like to say a big thank you to all at the club who made it happen.

At our City women’s games you are no doubt aware that we are pretty famous for Blandie’s drumming. On Sunday, she got herself a special little apprentice. Lily Mather (who is the daughter of our OSC president and original Manchester City Ladies manager back in 1988, Neil Mather) helped Blandie with the drumming and keeping the atmosphere going in what was a tough second half. She was a natural and we loved having her with us, so thank you Lily from us and the team for your help.

Safe travels to all this week and enjoy your games. We will be back again next week for another update.
