Arsenal full-back Emma Mitchell has joined North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the remainder of the season according to reports on Spurs’ official website.
The 27-year-old Kirkcaldy-born defender has spent the last seven years with The Gunners but will enjoy the rest of the 2019/2020 campaign playing in the white of Tottenham Hotspur.
Mitchell has made just five appearances for Arsenal this season, scoring one goal. The player’s temporary move to The Hive will see her benefit from more regular game time ahead of a potential return to her parent club in the summer.
The defender started her career north of the border with Glasgow City where she won four league titles, two Scottish Women’s FA Cups and two Scottish Women’s Premier League Cups. Mitchell then moved to German side SGS Essen where she spent a short period before joining Arsenal in July 2013.
During her time with The Gunners, Mitchell has won the FA Women’s Continental League Cup on three occasions along with two SSE Women’s FA Cups. The player helped Arsenal to the FA Women’s Super League title last term.
Mitchell’s best moments with Arsenal arguably came earlier in her career. She was named in the PFA FA Women’s Super League 1 Team of the Year when the XI was announced in 2015.
