Brighton & Hove Albion sign Norwegian international goalkeeper

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Norwegian international goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand on an 18-month deal according to reports on The Seagulls’ official website.

The 23-year-old stopper joins the South Coast club following a three-year spell with Norwegian outfit LSK Kvinner, a side who have featured regularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in recent seasons.

The transfer is thought to have been in the pipeline for a while with rumours having been raised within the Norwegian media during the past week.

Fiskerstrand will wear the number 25 shirt for Albion and will compete with trio Megan Walsh, Sophie Harris and Laura Hartley for the honour of being the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Norwegian international has appeared for her country on no less than 25 occasions since receiving her first call-up as an 18-year-old. Fiskerstrand was included in the 23-player Norway squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.

The player’s club career has seen her feature for Norwegian sides Fortuna Alesund and Stabaek before Fiskerstrand joined latest club LSK Kvinner towards the end of 2015.

Brighton & Hove Albion are unlikely to be able to call upon Fiskerstrand’s services on Sunday when they host Liverpool in the FA Women’s Super League as the player is awaiting international clearance.
