West Ham United defender Brooke Hendrix has completed a permanent transfer to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Washington Spirit according to reports by The Hammers’ official website.
The 26-year-old has spent the last 18 months with West Ham United and has played a big part in the club establishing themselves in the FA Women’s Super League.
It has been reported that Hendrix was torn between remaining in East London or returning home to join Washington Spirit. After some careful consideration by the player, she has decided that the challenge which awaits at the Spirit is one which is too good to turn down.
Hendrix leaves West Ham United having made 35 appearances for the club in all competitions. She played the full 90 minutes for The Hammers in their first Wembley appearance in May when they lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the SSE Women’s FA Cup final.
The defender returns home to the United States after a four-year spell playing overseas. Hendrix has played in Scotland with Rangers while she has also tested herself in Switzerland, Iceland and Italy before her latest spell playing at the top level in England.
Hendrix last played in the United States with the Atlanta Silverbacks where she started her professional career.
