Brighton & Hove Albion have announced a contract extension for goalkeeper Megan Walsh and a first-ever professional contract for young defender Maya Le Tissier.
Walsh has extended her stay on the South Coast, signing a new deal that runs until June 2021. The highly-rated keeper joined The Seagulls in the summer from former FA Women’s Super League club Yeovil Town. She has made 10 league appearances so far this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
The player also counts Notts County, Everton and Aston Villa amongst her former clubs while she has featured at Under-23 level for England. The 25-year-old stopper has become one of the best young goalkeepers in the league.
Maya Le Tissier has signed a two-and-a-half year contract that runs until June 2022. The defender started her career with the club’s development team before making her first senior appearance in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in 2018. The defender has played in nine league games so far this season, putting in a strong performance in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at The People’s Pension Stadium.
Le Tissier has also played for England at youth level. The young defender captained the England Under-17 side at the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship.
