Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Dutch winger Maxine Bennink on loan from FA Women’s Super League rivals Reading according to The Seagulls’ official website.
The 22-year-old Groenlo-born midfielder will spend the remainder of the 2019/2020 campaign with Hope Powell’s side.
Bennink joined parent club Reading last summer but had to wait until November to make her debut for The Royals in an FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture against FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium.
The youngster has now agreed to join Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for the remainder of the season which could result in Bennink gaining more regular game time. The player could be in-line to make her Albion debut against promotion-chasing second tier side Aston Villa in their Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at The Trevor Brown Memorial Ground on Sunday afternoon.
Bennink started her career in her homeland with FC Twente where she made a couple of first team appearances before moving to PEC Zwolle where she spent three seasons prior to her move to the FA Women’s Super League last August.
Brighton & Hove Albion find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle with the club currently just three points clear of bottom club Bristol City.
