Manchester United manager Casey Stoney has made the decision to recall midfielder Aimee Palmer from her loan spell at FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United.
The 19-year-old Wymondham-born midfielder joined The Blades on a season-long loan deal in August. The player has been in excellent form in South Yorkshire but she will now return to her parent club as Manchester United prepare for Saturday’s Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester City at the Leigh Sports Village.
During her time with Sheffield United, Palmer scored six goals and contributed four assists, those coming in just 18 appearances in red and white. The Blades announced the youngster’s departure on their official Twitter account earlier this evening.

Palmer started her career with Bristol City and made her top flight debut at the age of just 16 in a 3-1 defeat against Reading. The player went on to appear regularly for The Vixens in the 12 months which followed.
The midfielder followed former Bristol City boss Willie Kirk to Manchester United in summer 2018 and she played her part in United’s FA Women’s Championship title success last season. With The Red Devils having jumped up a level, manager Stoney made the decision that Palmer would be best suited to a loan spell this season but has now opted to cut that arrangement short.
Palmer could be considered for a place in the United squad for that mouthwatering Manchester derby in the Women’s FA Cup this weekend.
