FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United will be hoping to cause a Women’s FA Cup giant-killing when they face top flight side Birmingham City in their fourth round tie at The Proact Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Blades are currently flying high in the FA Women’s Championship after winning 10 of their 13 matches so far this season while latest opponents Birmingham City are battling for survival in the FA Women’s Super League.
Carla Ward’s Sheffield United side returned to winning ways following back-to-back defeats with a 5-0 demolition of Coventry United at the Butts Park Arena last weekend. Deadly duo Katie Wilkinson and Jade Pennock both netted braces in Warwickshire and the pair could pose a real threat to the Birmingham City defence on Sunday.
Marta Tejedor brings her Birmingham City side to Chesterfield on the back of four consecutive defeats in all competitions. The Blues have failed to score in their last three matches. They have not found the back of the net in over five hours of football since Abbi Grant netted against Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
Sheffield United already have a history of cup upsets this season. They won 3-2 at Liverpool in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in September and they will be keen to add another big name to their list of giant-killings.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon with admission available on the day.
