The numbers behind Arsenal’s marquee signing from Down Under

Arsenal revealed one of the worst kept secrets in world football on Friday with the club having signed Australian international forward Caitlin Foord, the news having been broken on the club’s official website.

The 25-year-old New South Wales-born attacker will link up with The Gunners in mid-February once her involvement with the Australian national team comes to an end.

After completing her move to Meadow Park, we have taken a look back at the facts and figures behind the player’s career so far as we summarise Caitlin Foord ‘in numbers’.

77 – The forward has collected 77 senior international caps for her country

2011 – The year 2011 was a good one for Foord who was crowned the FIFA Women’s World Cup Best Women’s Young Player, Asian Women’s Footballer of the Year and Football Federation Australia (FFA) Under-20 Women’s Footballer of the Year

17 – Foord has netted 17 goals for her country, the most recent coming against Brazil in the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019

4 – The player has four Australian W-League titles to her name

3 – Foord has been on the books of Sydney FC on three separate occasions while she was also loaned to the club by Sky Blue FC during the 2013/2014 season

1 – The striker scored her first goal for Australia on her senior international debut against New Zealand in 2011

2018 – Foord netted her first hat-trick for The Matilda’s in a 5-0 victory over Chile in an international friendly in 2018

165 – The player is 165 centimetres in height, that is 10 centimetres shorter than Arsenal teammate Vivianne Miedema

Foord is likely to make her Arsenal debut in either the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup or against Reading at Meadow Park on 23 February.
