England international midfielder Keira Walsh has agreed a new long term deal with Manchester City.
The 22-year-old Rochdale-born ace is one of the brightest young midfield prospects in the FA Women’s Super League and the player has been in excellent form so far this season.
Manchester City have tonight announced that Walsh has signed a new long term contract which will see her remain at The Academy Stadium until summer 2023.
Since making her senior debut for Manchester City in a 1-0 victory over Notts County in July 2014, Walsh has gone on to make 142 appearances for the club in which she has scored five goals. The youngster has won one FA Women’s Super League title with City while she has lifted the Women’s FA Cup twice and the FA Women’s Continental League Cup on three occasions.
Walsh was ready to leave The Academy Stadium in the summer with the Manchester Evening News reporting that European heavyweights Atletico Madrid and Lyon tried to sign the midfielder. Walsh handed in a transfer request but she soon revoked her decision and remained a City player.
Since opting to remain with the FA Women’s Super League club, Walsh has seen her campaign go from strength-to-strength and she could yet add more winners’ medals to her trophy cabinet this season.
