Sunday afternoon brings the second Merseyside derby of the season in the FA Women’s Super League as Everton face Liverpool at Goodison Park.
The Blues Girls recorded a 1-0 victory over Vicky Jepson’s Reds in-front of 23,500 fans at Anfield in the reverse fixture on Women’s Football Weekend in November, Lucy Graham netting the decisive goal.
The pair meet again at Goodison Park this weekend. Several areas of Everton’s spiritual home have already sold out with fans set to take on Storm Ciara to back their side in their numbers.
Everton come into the fixture enjoying their best campaign in the top flight for many years. The Blue Girls are currently occupying fifth position in the table, although they have won just once in five outings in the league. Willie Kirk’s side have won their last two home fixtures in all competitions against Reading in the FA Women’s Super League and London Bees in the Women’s FA Cup.
Liverpool have endured a nightmare campaign which has seen the club sitting at the bottom of the table for large parts but their form has improved of late with a 1-0 victory in a relegation six-pointer at Bristol City and an 8-1 demolition of Blackburn Rovers in the Women’s FA Cup.
