Arsenal’s North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur at Meadow Park is the most high-profile fixture to be postponed so far this morning.
The Gunners were set to take on Spurs in-front of a capacity crowd but the game has been called off on safety grounds due to high winds brought to the United Kingdom by Storm Ciara.
There have been widespread calls for a wholesale postponement of this weekend’s fixture cards in the FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship due to heavy rain and winds of up to 80 mph.
The first postponement of the day came at the Butts Park Arena with Coventry United’s home clash with Blackburn Rovers falling foul of the conditions. The pitch was fine, however, the club have opted to put the safety of both sets of supporters first. The remaining four fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship are also off.
All games in the FA Women’s Super League are now off with the exception of Manchester United v Chelsea.
