Alan Mahon will take charge of Manchester City for the first time this afternoon when they travel to West Ham United in the FA Women’s Super League.
The 41-year-old Dubliner steps into the shoes of former manager Nick Cushing who has left to become assistant boss at men’s Major League Soccer (MLS) club New York City FC.
Mahon will be hoping that his Manchester City managerial debut is not put on ice with Storm Ciara threatening the fixture.
West Ham United go into the match seeking revenge for their 5-0 drubbing by City at The Academy Stadium in November. The Hammers are in poor form, losing three of their last four in all competitions which includes an 8-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend.
Manchester City arrive in East London top of the FA Women’s Super League table, although they have played one game more than second-placed Chelsea. City said their farewells to former boss Cushing with a spirited 2-1 victory over Arsenal at The Academy Stadium last weekend. The club have won all five of their FA Women’s Super League fixtures since their 2-1 defeat by Chelsea at Kingsmeadow in early December.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm with fans encouraged to check West Ham United’s official media channels for weather updates before travelling to Rush Green.
