Sheffield United have opted to bring forward their FA Women’s Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers.
The two clubs were originally scheduled to meet on at The Proact Stadium on the final day of the season, however, the pair have opted to bring the fixture forward to this coming Sunday with both sides being without a game.
Sheffield United were originally set to face Lewes on Sunday but that match has been postponed due to The Rookettes’ ongoing Women’s FA Cup commitments. Simon Parker’s Lewes side must instead travel to Arsenal for their rearranged fifth round tie rather than face The Blades in Chesterfield with the original tie at Meadow Park having been postponed due to Storm Dennis last weekend.
With Sheffield United yet to play a match in February and with a possible fixture backlog on the horizon, The Blades have come to an agreement to take on Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
Carla Ward’s side are six points adrift of league leaders Aston Villa in the FA Women Championship table. The South Yorkshire club have seven games to close the gap on Villa and earn a promotion to the FA Women’s Super League at just the second attempt.
Sheffield United’s fixture against Blackburn Rovers will kick-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon with tickets available both in advance and on the day. Ticket holders for the original fixture against Lewes will be permitted admission to Sunday’s fixture while Sheffield United men’s season ticket holders qualify for free entry.
Tickets purchased for the original match vs Lewes can still be used and tickets are still available to buy for Sunday's game.
