Everton will be hoping to record a first-ever victory over Manchester United when the pair meet in the FA Women’s Super League in the opening fixture at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
The Blue Girls have announced that the match has already sold out with all 1,500 tickets snapped up by fans of both clubs.
Everton go into the match on the back of a stunning 5-0 victory at Bristol City in the Women’s FA Cup fifth round on Monday evening. The Blue Girls have also enjoyed good recent fortune on home soil with Willie Kirk’s side having won three of their last four games played on Merseyside in all competitions.
Manchester United are on a run of four games without a win. Their last victory came on 19 January when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at a foggy Leigh Sports Village. The Red Devils have already faced Everton twice this season, winning 3-0 in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in Southport and 3-1 in Leigh in the FA Women’s Super League. Lauren James and Katie Zelem have shared five of United’s six goals scored against The Blue Girls this season.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm and fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid congestion at the turnstiles.
