The two lowest ranked FA Women’s Super League sides remaining in the Women’s FA Cup go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon when Brighton & Hove Albion and Birmingham City contest a quarter-final tie at The People’s Pension Stadium in Crawley.
Hope Powell’s Albion side come up against a Birmingham City side who are without a permanent manager following the recent departure of Spanish coach Marta Tejedor.
The home side go into the match on the back of an excellent 3-0 victory over second tier club Crystal Palace in their fifth round tie which was played just before the international break. New signing Rianna Jarrett netted a brace on her debut for The Seagulls and the Republic of Ireland international will be hoping to make a similar impact against Birmingham City this weekend.
Managerless Birmingham City will arrive in Sussex under the guidance of interim boss Charles Baxter. The Blues have failed to score in each of their last five FA Women’s Super League fixtures while they needed an 85th-minute goal to see off third tier club Sunderland in the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup. Birmingham City could look to forward Abbi Grant for their goals this weekend with the player having netted twice for Scotland during the international break as Shelley Kerr’s side lifted the Pinatar Cup.
Sunday fixture is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm with admission available on the day. With the country currently battling the Coronavirus outbreak, fans are encouraged to check official club media channels for match updates before travelling.
