FA Women’s Championship club Coventry United have completed the signing of centre-back Anna Wilcox from West Bromwich Albion according to The Baggies official club website.
The 24-year-old defender returns to the Warwickshire club just 14 months on from leaving Coventry United to join West Bromwich Albion who currently play their football in the FA Women’s National League Premier League Northern Division.
It is understood that Wilcox has been handed the number five shirt by her new club and she is likely to fill the void left by former United defender Jodie Bartle who left the Butts Park Arena in January to go full-time with Scottish Women’s Premier League giants Celtic.
Wilcox has enjoyed a productive spell with former club West Bromwich Albion. The defender helped the Midlands side to a league and Cup double during her first half-season with The Baggies while the club have enjoyed a solid campaign at their new level of football so far this season.
Having come through the youth ranks at FA Women’s Super League club Birmingham City, Wilcox has a good grounding and should be a real asset for Coventry United in the second tier. The player should be available to make her second debut for The Red and Greens when FA Women’s Championship football resumes.
