Manchester City Women OSC members with their flag

WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #48

Welcome to this week’s update from us here at the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.

Let me start by wishing everyone well, I hope you are all staying safe in these troubling times. I know that the new restrictions are a difficult imposition on all of our lives but I hope that by us all acting together and staying at home, we can help our wonderful NHS save lives and get us through this emergency as soon as possible.

OSC-wise, as we said last week, we are extremely proud of our online community. We feel that now more than ever we can use our social media channels to help both our members and the wider football family cope with any issues that the current situation may throw up which includes loneliness. We have joined in with fans watching re-runs of City classics such as our cup final success from 2019 and a classic victory at Arsenal from 2015 which was screened on the FA Women’s Super League Facebook page last week.

As well as general interactions we have put together threads on player pictures and City Women memorabilia. We have encouraged people to send in their best pictures on Twitter and this has generated both interest and debate.

Another thing that we have started up is the reintroduction of a Twitter general knowledge quiz on City Women on a Friday evening along with other random quizzes throughout the week to both entertain and distract people’s worries. We hope to continue all of these events for as long as necessary and of course we welcome anyone’s suggestions of other things that we can do to involve people.

We are also in touch with a number of other women’s supporters club groups and we want to take this opportunity to send them and all of their members our best wishes too. Our Twitter feed and our direct messages are always open for anyone who needs a chat, we all have our part to play.

All of our members were proud to take part in the #clapforourcarers applause from our front doors last week, what an emotional event that was. The national event allowed us the opportunity to again thank each and every one of our wonderful NHS staff, care workers and key workers at this time.

Finally, we know that in football there is a lot of uncertainty and worry around at the moment and it is causing us upset as we are unsure of when we will see our teams in action again. What we would say is please be kind and remember that this is an unprecedented situation so we are sure that no decision is taken lightly and no decision is going to make everyone happy.

Stay safe and remember that we are here if you need us even if it is just for a quick chat.
