Welcome to this week’s Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club update.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well and keeping in touch with friends and family in any way that you can.
We are of course all still in the lockdown and missing our friends, our rivals and our football as much as ever but we all know that people’s health is the priority here and whilst that is the case we of course back the guidance which is officially being issued. When the time is right, the debate as to when and how our football can return is one we welcome and will be fully involved with but at the moment that is still a way off.
We have been really busy online again this week, running a number of activities to help people feel connected and pass the time whilst we are all stuck at home. We hosted our now traditional Friday night Twitter quiz which this time, was a picture quiz. It is proving to be an increasingly popular end of week event for a growing number of our followers and we welcome anyone else who wants to join in this Friday from 9pm on our Twitter account.
A number of Manchester City stars have been very active on social media in recent weeks. Aoife Mannion wished our member Mia a very happy birthday last week, Jill Scott has continued to post her fantastic skills challenges from her back garden for fans both young and old to attempt, plus there have been some other great posts from the likes of Keira Walsh, Ellen White and Steph Houghton to name just a few. All of these posts help us as fans feel closer to both the players and each other in these difficult times, so we are saying a big thank you to them for taking time out to do it.
We have also posted a number of teasers and picture quizzes from our member Peter Simpson (@relisano) and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him. Peter has a written a great book of statistics, facts and figures on Manchester City Women post-2014 which will be available later this year and is a must for all City fans. Together with Dave Coop’s (@diablo5150) amazing pictures, it really is a great record of City’s professional era. We will have further details on the book when the time is right so please keep following our social media for updates.
We joined in with the support of our wonderful NHS with the #ClapForOurCarers last Thursday evening and we have also been making a couple of subtle changes to our supporters’ club crest for the duration of this situation, see of you can spot them below.
You will see that this is our 51st weekly update therefore next week brings our first anniversary of the weekly update. To celebrate the occasion, Dan and the team have asked me for a special edition next week. This will see us look back at the last year’s events. I hope you enjoy the review as much as I will when putting it together.
Until then, stay safe and stay connected. If anyone needs a chat we are always hear and happy to offer support so please get in touch.
Look after yourselves and each other and we will be back again next week.
