PREVIEW: Reading v Manchester City

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League are back again with another re-run of a classic encounter this evening.

This time it is a re-run from the 2017/2018 season when Reading welcomed title-chasing Manchester City to Adams Park.

Ahead of this evening’s re-run, FA Women’s Super League Full-Time look back at the situation before the match as we provide our own match preview.

Reading went into their meeting with Manchester City on the back of a solid start in FA Women’s Super League 1. Since suffering a 1-0 opening day home defeat to Sunderland, The Royals had gone four league matches unbeaten. Kelly Chambers’ side had recorded an excellent 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Adams Park last time out thanks to a late Magda Eriksson own goal.

Manchester City made the trip to Buckinghamshire with a 100% winning record in tact. Nick Cushing’s side had won five out of five in the FA Women’s Super League 1, although the fact that they had conceded six goals was a slight cause for concern. Manchester City had recorded a 4-0 home victory over Bristol City in their last home league fixture. The biggest goal threat for Manchester City in the early weeks of the season was Izzy Christiansen. The England international travelled to Adams Park with five goals in five league outings to her name.

Tonight’s re-run kicks-off at 7.45pm and will be screened on the official Barclays FA Women’s Super League Facebook page and the FA Player.
