WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #53

Welcome to the weekly update from Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.

Let me start by saying that I hope that you are all keeping safe and well as these difficult times continue.

I mentioned last week in our anniversary update that despite the Lockdown, our OSC has continued to thrive, especially the online elements as they become the most important tools in helping us all keep together and connected. This has continued to be the case this week too. We again had our Friday night Twitter picture quiz, which our members enjoy and some are brilliant at it. We have also been running a fun poll on Twitter to find our ultimate Manchester City Women game. It has been run in a knockout style, putting one classic game against another with members voting on which one to progress to the next round. I will update you all on the winner next week.

On a more serious note, we have three wonderful members representing our OSC in the amazing ‘100k in May’ challenge to raise funds for a charity very close to our hearts, The Darby Rimmer Foundation. Team MCWFC OSC consists of Louise McCluskie, plus father and daughter Simon and Akalyna Boynton. They will be hoping to cover the distance in the month and have all made a flying start this week. We have our JustGiving page up and running and if you would like to donate any amount large or small, it’d be much appreciated. Keep updated on their progress on our social media channels.

We still wait to see the decisions taken on when football will return, of course remembering that safety of all must be the number one priority. There is unlikely to be a solution that pleases everyone as this is an unprecedented situation, but we hope we can all be back supporting our teams as soon as is possible. It is great to see that this weekend’s FA Cup rewind on the BBC will be featuring classic Women’s FA Cup finals including our 2017 win over Birmingham City. We will be watching and Tweeting along with it, so please join us this Saturday at 12:30pm for an afternoon of fun.

Thursday sees our OSC secretary Jayne celebrate her birthday and while we cannot celebrate together as a group as we would usually do, we would like to take this opportunity to wish her a very Happy Birthday from everyone here at the OSC.

Friday morning sees the first-ever FA Women’s Super League Full-Time quiz on Zoom with Dan asking the questions. We would like to invite all of our members to take part. Please E-mail Dan at fawslfulltime@gmail.com to confirm attendance and to obtain the meeting link.

As we mention each week, we are happy to chat to anyone who is finding the times tough at the moment or is feeling lonely. Please do get in touch if you need to and keep safe and supporting each other.

See you all next week.
