The Barclays FA Women’s Super League are back again with another classic re-run this afternoon, this time its West Ham United’s home fixture against Reading from earlier this season.
Ahead of the match, West Ham United knew that victory over The Royals would see them leapfrog the Berkshire club in the table, would Matt Beard’s side pull it off?
FA Women’s Super League Full-Time take a look at the situation before the match took place in November as we provide a match preview of this afternoon’s re-run.
The home side went into the match after suffering back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Manchester City. Manager Beard had apologised for the performance at The Academy Stadium last time out as the East Londoners were defeated 5-0.
Reading had been in inconsistent form themselves leading up to their trip to Rush Green. After being defeated 2-0 at Manchester United, Kelly Chambers’ side let a two-goal lead slip as they were made to draw 3-3 with struggling Bristol City at The Madejski Stadium.
With West Ham United’s previous two home games having produced nine goals, combined with Reading’s six-goal thriller against Bristol City, you got the feeling that the pair’s meeting at Rush Green could be a goal-fest. It didn’t disappoint.
This afternoon’s re-run of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between West Ham United and Reading kicks-off at 3pm on the official Barclays FA Women’s Super League Facebook page and on the FA Player.
