Bristol City have confirmed that full-back Poppy Pattinson is leaving the Stoke Gifford Stadium with her contract with The Robins having come to an end.
The 20-year-old defender has missed a large chunk of this season with a foot injury and she made a positive impact upon her return to the side in December.
Bristol City won two of the six games in which Pattinson featured in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while in comparison, they collected just three points without her in the side. The Robins boss Tanya Oxtoby was said to be keen to retain the youngster’s services and she offered Pattinson a new contract, however, the player has made the decision that her future lies elsewhere.
Pattinson started her career with Sunderland where she made a handful of senior appearances before joining Manchester City in 2017. The defender struggled for game time during her spell at The Academy Stadium and she joined latest club Bristol City in summer 2018. Since moving to the Stoke Gifford Stadium, Pattison has made 25 appearances in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while she has also represented The Robins in 10 domestic cup fixtures.
The left-back becomes the first player to leave Bristol City in the close season.
