Arsenal centre-back Louise Quinn is set to leave the club following the end of her contract according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.
The defender has made 76 appearances for the club since her arrival in 2017 following the dissolution of her former side Notts County. For a long period, Quinn was a stronghold in the team, a name to be relied upon in that centre-back position. She played an integral role in the club being crowned FA Women’s Super League champions last season as she formed a formidable pairing with Leah Williamson. The Gunners conceded just 13 league goals last season.
Unfortunately for Quinn, last summer saw the signing of Jennifer Beattie from rivals Manchester City as she returned to the club. In turn, Quinn has struggled for game time and will no doubt be seeking a move to find more regular football once again.
Quinn is an experienced senior international with 79 appearances to her name for the Republic of Ireland for whom she has scored 11 goals, from her preferred starting position at centre-back.
The defender is renowned for being a real character in the Arsenal dressing room and is understood to have played a key role in maintaining good team morale during her time with The Gunners. On and off the pitch, she will be missed by everyone at Meadow Park.
